THE SAMUEL J. HARDMAN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Eligibility: 

1. Candidates must fill out an application that is due by March 31, 2009

    Applications must be submitted to:

2. Recipients must be a year-round Hurricane swimmer.

3. Recipient must train exclusively with the HATY Swim team during the preceding season and the season in which the scholarship has been awarded.  (Must not have trained with any other swimming organization from September 01 through April 30 of the current season or during the season that the scholarship is awarded, other than a swimmer's high school, if awarded this scholarship)

4. Funds will be awarded to one boy and one girl

(Seniors who plan to swim in a college program may apply)

Selection Criteria:

1.   Selections will be based on three criteria, weighted equally: 

         a) Performance—which will include a ranking of prior seasons

    b) Sportsmanship/Character

    c) Quality of answers to the essays on the application 

3.  A review board will rank the applicants based on all of the criteria

4.  Final selections will be made based on the rankings of all criteria

Award and recognition will be made at the Winter  Swim Team Banquet, with the funds to be applied to the 2009-2010 winter season.

Funds will be transferred directly from the trust fund to be applied to the Y fees. 

Please Note:

Swimmer should receive a conformation that the Hardman's received their application. 

Any swimmer that does not hear from the Hardman's in a reasonable amount of time should contact them and let them know that they have sent in an application. 

The Hardman Family will send each scholarship applicant an email letting them know that they have received their form.
